Don’t cheat your feet.  If you are trekking to Everest Base Camp or another trek in Nepal, old is gold when it comes to shoes.  Just be sure they are sturdy and broken in.

This video is about the thousands of Nepali brothers and sisters who leave each year to take jobs abroad.  They have no idea of the horrible conditions; the abuse; indentured servitude or death threats they are facing.  It is heart-breaking to be a Westerner on a flight from Kathmandu to Dubai loaded with these workers because we HAVE seen this video, we DO know what they are facing.   BUT the more people support our businesses, the more we can employ our people.  Only entrepreneurship can help, where our disorganized, greedy government has failed.   So please watch this, and choose Nepal.  If you are Richard Branson… please help!

FAVORITE MOTHER’S DAY TRADITION: 

When I lived in Nepal I would celebrate mother’s day by going for lunch outside of Kathmandu with my mother, Durga Rana, and my siblings.  We would then go to a spa and spend the rest of the day there just eating, relaxing, chatting…it was a day of food for our mind, body and soul! 

Now I speak with my mother almost every day on my way to work and I love those moments.  Those calls have become a tradition in themselves, a modern “mother’s day” tradition in a way.
